UniForum
The UniForum at the UniCenter has an exciting history to look back on: in 1972, the building was erected as an ecumenical church forum. The building has been listed since 2012. It was redeveloped by Wegner Immobilien into a state-of-the-art centre of learning for the Ruhr University of Bochum (RUB) within the framework of the RUB 2013 project for around ten million euros.
In the roughly 3,500 m2 of the UniForum, there are 17 seminar rooms and lecture halls, which are used for educational purposes by all faculties for teaching over 1,300 students.
The UniCenter in the Querenburg part of town makes up the centre of Bochum-Hustadt. It was created parallel to the neighbouring Ruhr University of Bochum as its urban core. It has a total of more than 2,000 residential units, about 80 per cent of which are student apartments, more than 26,000 m2 of commercial space, an indoor swimming pool, and a church. In the International Office of the University, there are 29 high end furnished and fully equipped apartments for international visitors with a total of 55 residential units available.
